About ingrowns and razor burn

Ingrown hairs are created when your skin does not get enough exfoliation. They form when you shave or remove the hairs by shaving, waxing, sugaring or depilatory creams.

As the hairs keep on developing, they curl up inside the follicles and can’t escape to the surface. The outcome is an unattractive ingrown-hair, in the form of a bump or even grown strait under the skin. Ingrown hairs are common and numerous men and women suffer from them.

A background on the invention of Tend Skin®

It was invented in Florida in 1985. A dentist created it to relieve the pain and swelling associated with a procedure and found that it cleared up the patient’s razor burn.
When the dentist realized how vital the discovery was he created and manufactured the product. It took 9 years to get the product to market. Tend skin has proven to be valuable to treat ingrown hairs, razor burn and even is used as a deodorant.

Why should someone use Tend Skin®

Simple: “Regular application of Tend Skin® Liquid will reduce the appearance of existing ingrown hairs”

My Tend Skin® ingrown hair solution review:

Personally, I love it and it works for me. I find the scent is a little strong though.  It kind of smells a bit like alcohol, but it’s not unbearable. I also find that its best used on cotton pads rather than cotton balls.  I just cut the pads into 4. -See the ones I have below

One time when I was having a bad break out on my face I used it there too.  I saw that estheticians were using it for facials so I figured, why not.  I put it on a pad and rubbed it all over and my break out surprisingly cleared up pretty quickly!  Now when I get a zit I just dab a bit on each pimple.

When you buy it on Amazon it’s quite a bit cheaper than from a drug store or salon.  It’s actually the tend skin company that sells it through Amazon.  So you can get it cheaper and the shipping is quick and free if you have Amazon Prime.

Types of Tend Skin®

Tend Skin® has the following products that are available:

Tend Skin® Liquid– 3 sizes, 4oz, 8oz & 16 oz-
This is the classic Tend Skin® that most people are familiar with. “Tend Skin® effectively reduces the appearance of ingrown hair, razor bumps, and redness from shaving, waxing, electrolysis or laser hair removal.”

Air Shave® Gel– 8oz & 16 oz- This one is pretty new and I just bought it. I really like it for shaving my legs! -It is so silky! I have never used anything like it before. “Our gel will not only allow ease of shaving, but its moisturizing properties will soothe the skin for hours.”

Brightoner™ Serum- I haven’t tried this one but I have 2 friends who have. They are in love with it. Apply it multiple times a day to prevent ingrowns and brighten skin.

Tend Skin® Refillable roll-on system– You simply fill up this little container with your Tend Skin® for a cleaner application with no messy cotton fuss.

This set is the best deal!

What to use Tend Skin® on

Did you know Tend Skin® can be used on a ton of different skin problems and has many uses?

For shavers:

Use on existing ingrown hairs or razor bumps. Apply after shaving and nightly to help clear unsightly ingrown hairs and razor bumps.

When the bumps have cleared up, reduce use to once daily after shaving; experiment to determine how little you need to maintain clear skin. Remember, a little goes a long way

Tend Skin Air Shave Gel

For waxers:

For Technicians: It is reported by estheticians and waxing technicians that applying Tend Skin® Liquid before waxing will “ease” the wax “pull”. Tend Skin® Liquid Liquid dissolves skin oils that prevent the wax from sticking to hair.

For Clients: Apply daily on problem areas.

With electrolysis:

For the Technician: Applying before electrolysis will help with electrolysis needle placement in the follicles. The product cleans the skin and adds contrast which makes it easier to visualize the area. Applying after electrolysis will reduce the post-electrolysis red appearance of the skin before the client leaves the salon.
For the client: Apply between electrolysis treatments when you see hair re-growing. Figure out how little is needed to keep skin your clear.

What does an ingrown hair look like?

With laser hair removal:

For the Technician: Apply after treatment to reduce the appearance of redness before the client leaves the treatment office.
For the client: For existing ingrown hairs, apply for several days before laser hair treatment but only up to a day before the treatment as the product can block the laser from reaching the follicles.

Other uses of Tend Skin®you might not know about:

For Facials-Several estheticians have reported that they are using Tend Skin® to remove makeup before a facial and it cleans the skin really well

Deodorant– This one surprised me. But many people are using it as a deodorant.

Foot Odour– This one I can kind of see. Put it on to combat foot odour before your days start or the end of the day.

Laser hair removal– Technicians report it reduces the appearance of redness and next-day bumpiness. It should be used after treatments and not be used right be for laser procedures

Necktie Redness-People who wear neckties have reported less irritation and redness after using Tend Skin®
Ink removal– Another weird one. It removes ink stains on the skin!
